Your Therapists
East-West Therapies, as the name suggests, brings together the Eastern and Western Healing Arts. The combination of therapies we provide is quite unique to Ballarat, and given we are a husband and wife team, even more unique.
Our central location provides the perfect environment for the style of practice we value most - time rich and client centred. You will never be rushed at this practice.
Greg Horgan
After beginning my career as a Psychology/Social Sciences teacher in Victorian secondary schools, I trained as an Acupuncturist and Herbalist/Naturopath, before establishing a part time private practice (1987) in my home town of Ballarat.
I have also had extensive involvement in Acupuncture education. For over a decade and a half I lectured, in Acupuncture and Health Sciences, at the Australian Acupuncture College, Victoria University and the Australian College of Natural Medicine. In 2005 I gave away my teaching commitments to focus on my passion for practice.
In 2003 I began a new and exciting adventure. I undertook training in Neuro Linguistic Practitioner (NLP). I completed both my NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner training with world class Trainer's Trainer - Roger Deaner; who became my personal mentor. I ave also recently completed (Beginners and Advanced) training in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy - a mindfulness based therapy).
As each layer of learning adds more texture and depth to my practice I find myself becoming more and more focused on what works - as complexity gives way to simplicity. In the not too distant future I intend focussing on running Mindfulness-based workshops and training programs for those who wish to live full, rich and meaningful lives.
Audrey Burking
I am a multi modality trained practitioner, with three decades of experience in private and public practice. I graduated in Physiotherapy from the Western Australian Institute of Technology (Curtin University) and worked in acute and rehabilitation hospitals in Perth before moving to Victoria.
After some years in Melbourne I moved to Ballarat, and in 1990 I established my own private Physiotherapy and Shiatsu practice. Since then I have continued to upgrade my skills and qualifications; adding accreditations in Yoga teaching, Workplace Assessment & Training and, most recently, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) - Practitioner Level. In 2012 I am undertaking a Diploma in Satyananda Yoga Teaching.
I now divide my professional work time between my Physiotherapy/Shiatsu Practice and my Yoga teaching.
